2012 World Rugby Festival

Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival Fukuoka Japan 20122012 will see the city of Fukuoka host the first ever Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival to be staged in Japan. In fact this will be the first time a Golden Oldies Festival of any sport will have been staged in Japan.

Fukuoka City is one of Japan's most prosperous port cities and has a history that dates back over 2,000 years. The City has been known as a commercial and trading centre for several centuries and is well connected with other major cities in Japan by various modes transport. Fukuoka city has a population of over 1.5 million and is conveniently located and easily accessible by any mode of transport.

Fukuoka is also known as the sporting capital of Japan. Most notably, it has a long history in rugby with many school and industrial teams being established in Fukuoka, which has produced more Japanese International Rugby representatives than any other city in Japan. Fukuoka is home to two professional Rugby Clubs playing in the Top League competition, the Coca Cola Red Sparks, and the Sunix Blues.

Fukuoka is rich in Japanese culture and history and the friendly local population will certainly be aware that the Golden Oldies Rugby Fraternity have come to town and will be ready to welcome everyone with only the best that Fukuoka and Japan has to offer.

The format for the weeks Festivities will be as follows:

Day 1 - Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party
Day 2 - 1st Day of Games
Day 3 - Mid Week Picnic Day
Day 4 - 2nd Day of Games
Day 5 - Free to Explore Fukuoka
Day 6 - 3rd Day of Games
Day 7 - Grande Finale Dinner and Air NZ Awards Ceremony
