Adelaide "The Friendly City" will host the 14th biannual World Hockey Festival from 20 - 27 September 2009.

The generosity of Adelaide's locals is most evident when the city turns out to welcome visiting event participants, and combined with the support of the South Australia Tourism Commission and Hockey South Australia, all participants can look forward to a Festival full of "Fun Friendship and Fraternity".
The cities strategic location offers a huge range of experiences to enjoy - from pristine coastlines with great beaches, the romantic wine country of the Barrossa Valley, to the majestic Murray River, and the great Outback of Australia.
Adelaide is not only a great choice to host the Festival because of its excellent tourist attractions, they also happen to be very passionate about their Hockey.
Adelaide has a proud history in Hockey dating back to 1903 when the South Australia Hockey Association was formed, although the South Australia competition had been running since 1901. In 1905 the Forestville Hockey club was formed and is the oldest in Australia.
The format for the weeks Festivities will be as follows
Day 1 Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party
Day 2 1st Day of Games
Day 3 Free day to explore Adelaide
Day 4 2nd Day of Games
Day 5 Picnic Day
Day 6 3rd Day of Games
