The following steps are a suggestion of how you might go about forming a Team and appointing a Team Manager:
- Organise a meeting of interested people.
- Formally appoint a Chairman/Secretary/Treasurer.
- Discuss the objectives of the Team:
- To promote the sport generally.
- To play for the enjoyment and for keeping fit.
- To tour overseas.
- Send in official Team Entry Form to register team to attend a World Festival.
- Organise fund raising for an overseas tour and report on fund-raising results.
- Organise a team bank account and get each member to pay a $100 deposit and commit themselves to a certain amount on a regular basis towards the coming tour.
- Organise local games which are fun affairs.
- Hold regular meetings and social functions to increase membership.
- Organise an appealing Team Uniform.
- Approach local businesses for sponsorship.
- Organise a local 'mini-festival' remembering that there should be no winners. Present awards e.g. 'best dressed player', 'personality of the Festival' etc. Organise fundraising around this event.
- Inform local media of the team's plans and activities.
- Organise a fitness programme in the lead up to the event.
The Team Manager plays an invaluable role and deserves all the praise he or she receives from other team members for the time and commitment contributed.
